Ashes 2015 Lord’s Test: Australia Ends Up Strong on Day 1

After an embarrassing start to its Ashes Tour, the trophy holders Australia have done a phenomenal job on 1st day of Second Test at Lord’, London.  Australia lost 1st Test Match of 5 Match Ashes 2015 Series to England by a huge margin of 169 runs at Cardiff, Wales. The visitors have bounced back on the first day by ending the day at score of 337 for 1 which includes two centuries from Aussies players i.e., Chris Rogers(158 Not Out) and Steven Smith(129 Not Out). Australia lost only wicket of David Warner who scored 42 balls 38.

Ashes 2015 Lord’s Test:

Australian captain Michael Clarke won the toss and decided to bat first on the batting friendly wicket of Lords with two changed in the team. Brad Haddin was replaced by Wicket batsman Peter Nevill and Out of form and LBW victim Shane Watson was replaced by young Mitch Marsh while England choose to play with the same winning squad of Cardiff.

David Warner and Chris Rogers made a solid start and went on to score for the 1st wicket partner when Warner threw his wicket to Moin Ali and since then England were outplayed by two aussies who went not out on day 1 for the score of 337-1. Steve Smith continued his purple patch with another hundred at home of cricket while Chris Rogers also managed a brilliant ton at Lords after a string of 7 half centuries in last 8 innings. These two batsmen went unbeaten to the end of the day.

Australia – 337/1 ( Rogers- 158*, Smith- 129*).
