South African misery with the bat continued at Feroz Shah Kotla whereas Ajinkya Rahane displayed his class on day 2 of fourth test match of Gandhi-Mandela Freedom Series.
India Vs South Africa Delhi Test: South Africa Stumbles, Again
Misery of South African batters is not going to end at least in the ongoing tour of India as Proteas again showed their lack of skills, patience, confidence and temperament when they were rattled by Indian bowlers for mere 121 runs. All the devils around the pitches in India were proved vague by South Africa’s struggle at quite a batting friendly pitch of Feroz Shah Kotla where lower order Indian Batsmen comfortably made 200 plus runs.
South Africa began the second innings where they ended their previous match. New opening pair of Dean Elgar and Bavuma couldn’t turn the fortunes as Proteas again struggled to make any impact as they succumbed to the situations which were in India’s favour after brilliant knocks from Ajinkya Rahane and R Ashwin.
South Africa made 121 runs in reply to India’s 334 which included memorable ton from Ajinkya Rahane (127) with helping hands from Ashwin (56) and Kohli (44). South African battle couldn’t turn things as Ravindra Jadeja proved to be the talismanic spinner this time. AB De Villiers (42) was a lone ranger in this poor batting display by world number 1 team as big names like Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis and JP Duminy failed miserably. R Jadeja plucked 5 wickets while Umesh Yadav and R Ashwin shared 2 wickets each.
Freedom Series Test Match at Delhi: Ajinkya Rahane is the New Indian Wall
India was on their knees with six batters in the pavilion when Ajinkya Rahane (127) along with R Jadeja (24) went on to take India’s total to a respectable number and then continued his genius act with R Ashwin (56) to take the game away from Proteas. India was 139 for 6 at ones and Rahane’s heroics turned the table as India ended their innings at 334. Rahane made his first century in India and luckily at Delhi which happens to be his debut venue.
