India was in pressure after losing the T20I Series to South Africa followed by 2 ODIs of the first 3 of Gandhi-Mandela Freedom Series.ย  India did well in all departments of the cricket to overcome the South Africans and their Juggernaut, AB De Villiers.

India won the match by good 35 runs after posting a good total of 299 with the brilliant hundred from Virat Kohli (138) and good hand by Southpaw, Suresh Raina (53). South African chase went into hassle after fall of wickets at regular intervals but it was again the best cricketer in the world who made Indians sweat for the victory. AB De Villiers knock of 112 did bother MS Dhoni but after ABโ€™s fall it was all about famous Indian win.

Turning Points of the South Africa Vs India ODI Match

  • Virat being back at his favourite position did his bid in style while sending Rahane at 4 and Raina at 5 also sorted all the issues that team has been facing. Virat Kohliโ€™s innings (138) was well supported by Rahane and Suresh Raina (53) as they had 2 ton stands between them.
  • Dhoniโ€™s spin card worked again with all the spinners being effective on the slow track of Chennai. Harbhajan, Mishra and Axar Patel got wickets while Bhuvneshwar wicket of AB De Villiers was actually the turning point of the match.
  • AB De Villiers fall of Bhuvneshwar was the vital point in the match as AB was threatening to take the game away till that point. Bhuvi took 3 wickets to play an important role in the win.

The last ODI would be played at Wankhede, Mumbai and would also decide the winner of Freedom Series ODI Winners.
