Nitin Chauhan, 38 years old, cousin of Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, commits suicide on Friday morning by reason of marital dispute. As police reports said, he shot himself dead by a pistol which they recovered from his car. The source of the weapon is not known yet, as it does not belong to him.
Police also recovered two suicide notes, one from his vehicle and one from his residence in which he clearly blame his wife and in-laws for harassing him by filing false cases against him and restricting him to meet his children. His wife Pravin Dulta (34) and in-laws Prem Singh Dulta (60) and Sulochna Dulta (55) were arrested on Sunday, on the basis of suicide note.
As sources reports that, an abetment case has been filed against the Dulta family and police has sent the weapon for forensic examination. Also his mobile phone has been sent to get the call details and other information.
Nitin Chauhan’s mother also told police that he was at home last night, but when she went to his room at mid-night, he was not present. She thought he had gone for a drive. In morning, they saw his car parked at roadside and blood near the car.
Mr. Nitin Chauhan basically belonged to Shilat village in Kotkhai tehsil of district but was residing with his family in Shimla for past few years.
According to Child rights activist Kumar V. Jahgirdar, Chauhan took this step a day before a court hearing of his matrimonial case. He added “Its indeed shocking that nobody came to rescue of Nitin Chauhan as he was missing his son. His wife filed false case in order to keep him away from his child.”
Mr. Kumar jahgirdar also took initiative to make ‘parent alienation’, a crime and promote Shared Parenting in cases of divorce to protect the rights of child of separated couples.
