Tom Cruise will soon be seeing in an action-adventure horror film “The Mummy”, directed by Alex Kurtzman and written by Jon Spaihts. This is the reboot of The Mummy Franchise starring Tom Cruise and Annabelle Wallis, Sofia Boutella, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance, Russell Crowe in lead roles. The film is scheduled to be released on June 9, 2017.
Universal Pictures has shared the trailer tease which crossed 2M views in just one day. But of course, Brendan Fraser is being missed by the people. The storyline is that ‘an ancient princess which is awakened from her crypt beneath the desert, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension.’
The film was partially filmed in the City of London. The tagline of the film is “Welcome to a new world of gods and monsters” is a quote from The Bride of Frankenstein (1935), which was also produced by Universal Pictures.
This would be the first time, when Tom Cruise will appear in more than a movie in single year since 2012. Both, ‘The Mummy’ and ‘American Made’ starring Tom Cruise are going to be released in upcoming year 2017. This is the third fantasy movie in his entire career till yet.
Earlier, while casting the role for The Mummy (1999), director Stephen Sommers first choice was Tom Cruise, but later on cast Brendan Fraser. Now, 18 years later, he cast Tom Cruise in the lead role.
Also, there were many choices for the role of Dr. Jekyll before finalizing Russell Crowe like Tom Hardy, Javier Bardem, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Eddi Redmayne.
Well of course, it would be a difficult task for The Mummy (2017) to stand over the expectations of people as the movie already remade many times in past. Specially, The Mummy (1932) was immensely horror and so much loved by the people. Thankfully, the cast and the whole team behind the movie is remarkable and by seeing the cast, people definitely would not be able to stop themselves to step inside the theatres atleast once.
