One of the biggest Cricket Entertainer, Virender Sehwag announced his retirement from all forms of the game. Viru is the only Indian batter to score triple hundreds in Test Matches.

Virender Sehwag Hangs his Cricketing Shoes

Indiaโ€™s or arguably worldโ€™s best entertainer batsman, Virender Sehwag announced his retirement via a statement where he highlighted his achievement and people responsible for them, he thanked every individual who supported him and contributed ย in journey to be the pioneer of the game. Sehwag was thankful to Sourav Ganguly for trusting him as a test cricketer and also sacrificing his opening slot for him.

Sehwag is popularly known as Viru Paaji, โ€˜Multan Ka Sultanโ€™ (Triple Hundred against Pakistan in Multan) and Najafgarh ka Nawaab. The cricketer began his career in 1999 against Pakistan in Mohali which was his First ODI Match while his Test Cricket career took off in 2001 against South Africa under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly.

Virender Sehwag played 104 Test Matches and is only Indian batter to score triple hundreds in Test Matches which came against Pakistan (2004) and South Africa (2009). Viru also has a double ton to his name in a one day match against West Indies. Sehwag sported the blue jersey for 251 ODI Matches.Viru also played 19 T20I for India.

Virender Sehwag was best known for taking attack to the bowlers and his match winning ability would always be missed by Cricket fanatics and the team. Indian Teams winning percentage for Test matches was 22% before Sehwag joined the squad which went on to enormous 41% in the matches Sehwag played and after his last test match against Australia in 2013, the winning percentage again dropped to 33% which clearly shows the Sehwagโ€™s ability to win the matches for India.
